Purpose:

To grant £100,000 from existing Temporary Accommodation budget to Gloucester City Homes for temporary accommodation for families in Southgate Street.

Decision:

To grant £100,000 from existing Temporary Accommodation budget to Gloucester City Homes for temporary accommodation for families in Southgate Street.

Reasons for the decision:

Gloucester City Council have been working with GCH since autumn 2019 on a temporary accommodation housing scheme in Southgate Street. The scheme consists of up to 9 units of accommodation suitable for families and with flexibility to house larger families. Gloucester have approximately 5 families currently in B&B accommodation which could be moved in to this more appropriate provision when it is available.

GCH have secured Homes England funding to support the scheme. GCC will grant £133,000 of which £33,000 will come from S106 and £100,000 from current TA budgets and in return will have nomination rights through a nominations agreement for a period 12 years.

Alternative options considered:

We could decide not to contribute to the scheme but we would not benefit from the nominations agreement if we didn’t and our temporary accommodation options for families would remain limited.
