To appoint Members to Outside Bodies as set out in the attached schedule.

8.1       The Council considered the Schedule of Appointments to Outside Bodies for the municipal year 2016-17.

8.2       Councillor James moved two amendments to the Schedule as set out in Appendix 2, firstly to propose Councillor Tracey replace Councillor Toleman as the named representative for the Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust and secondly to propose that the four nominees for the Gloucester City Homes Board be put forward to the organisation, in order for them to select the most appropriate candidate.

8.3       Councillor Watkins seconded the motion.

8.4       Councillor Hilton, seconded by Councillor Wilson, proposed to amend the schedule to include Councillor Hyman as a nominee for the Gloucester City Homes Board. He noted that Councillor Hyman had significant experience in housing related matters and was well suited to the position.

8.5       Councillor James accepted the amendment.

8.6       Councillor Pullen noted the key role that Gloucester City Homes had in administering social housing across the City. He emphasised the importance of appointing democratically elected representatives that enjoyed cross party support.

8.7       RESOLVED - That the schedule of appointments to Outside Bodies be approved, subject to Councillor Tracey’s nomination to the Llanthony Secunda Priory Trust, the inclusion of Councillor Hyman as a nominee on the Gloucester City Homes Board and all nominees for the Gloucester City Homes Board being put forward for consideration, in order for Gloucester City Homes to select their preferred candidate.
