Councillor Hilton queried why the meeting would be confidentialThis was echoed by Councillors Wilson, Haigh and Stephens. Councillor Haigh noted that there was a presumption that the committee’s meetings should be held in public. Similarly, Councillor Stephens stated that if the meeting was to remain public, then it would not make sense to keep the papers related to Agenda Item 5 private.

Councillor Tracey stated that she disagreed with these sentiments. She stated that certain commercially sensitive matters must be kept private.

The Chair then informed the Committee that a vote would be taken on whether to conduct the meeting in private. A vote was taken.
