Disposal of Bearland Lodge

Decision Maker: Leader of the Council

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

To agree to the sale of the Council’s freehold interest in Bearland Lodge, 55 Longsmith Street, Gloucester.

Decision:

To agree to the sale of the Council’s freehold interest in Bearland Lodge, 55 Longsmith Street, Gloucester.

Reasons for the decision:

The property has been vacant since June 2017 after the previous tenants vacated. As the property would require significant works to make it lettable and to meet the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards the decision was made to dispose of the property. The property is a listed building and going forward would require significant ongoing maintenance.

Alternative options considered:

  1. To undertake the works required to the property and rent it out again. It was considered that the amount of money required to bring the property to a lettable standard was not warranted due to the level of rent that could be expected.

2.    There was no internal requirement for the building

Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:
