The
Grants and Community Development Forum comprises 5 Councillors and
5 representatives from the voluntary sector. It has the following
functions :
An
advisory role on matters relating to grants and community services,
making recommendations to the Cabinet and/or the Head of Community
Development, as appropriate, where there is a majority view of the
Forum.
To
improve awareness and understanding amongst City Council officers
and Members of the structure, organisation and workings of
voluntary organisations in Gloucester.
To
assist the Council and the voluntary sector more broadly in
promoting good practices in all aspects of voluntary sector
management.
To
assist the Council in promoting the development of policy criteria,
and good practices in arrangements for funding of voluntary groups
in Gloucester, and where appropriate to work towards a consistency
of approach with the County Council in particular.
To be
the consultative Forum whose views the City Council can take into
account on matters relating to grants and community
development.
To
assist the Council identify areas of special need in the
community.
To
assist the Council identify training and other support needs for
voluntary organisations in Gloucester, particularly for those
groups where changes arise as a result of change in City Council
policy, funding conditions or arrangements.
