All 39 Councillors meet together as the full Council, presided over by the Mayor, to decide the overall policies and set the budget each year.
The Cabinet comprises the Leader of the Council and five Cabinet Members, who together are responsible for most day-to-day decisions.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee supports the work of the Leader and Cabinet and the Council as a whole by advising on policy, budget and service delivery, and holding the Leader and Cabinet to account for the decisions it makes. The Committee will, as appropriate, establish Task and Finish Groups to carry out reviews and produce reports for consideration by the Committee.
Gloucester City Council’s has appointed regulatory and other committees to carry out specific functions, some of which are defined by law.
Forums and Working Groups have an advisory and consultative role on matters relating to the delivery of Council services.
